Abstract

The article provides a psycho-demographic description of the traditional family, a psycho-demographic description of the causes and achievements of the current feminist movement to determine its new goals for today and the near future. It is shown that traditional family is characterized not so much by the subordinate position of women in relation to men, but by the traditional division of responsibilities between spouses, which does not take into account their individual characteristics. The deterioration of women’s condition in society, their subordinate position in relation to men arose in the process of industrialization. By the end of the 20th century, those distortions in society that arose as a result of industrialization were generally corrected and women received equal legal and economic rights with men (we are talking about the Western world). Therefore, the modern feminist movement must put forward new tasks adequate to the current state of affairs. Unfortunately, according to the article author, the modern feminist movement has chosen the wrong path under the slogan: women are always and everywhere equal to men, this idea applies not only to legal or economic spheres, it also applies to physical and psychological characteristics, etc. The feminist movement has led to a number of psychological outcomes, both positive and negative. The great victory of the feminist movement: available opportunities and desire for open, sincere, frank and honest communication between women and men on any topics of human life. On the other hand, there is a problem of interaction between women and men: each couple has to agree on the distribution of family responsibilities and rights without any real guidance from society, basing on own views of the people creating the family. The task for the feminist movement today and for the near future: in every way, at all levels: families, communities, society as a whole to promote and support dialogue between women and men for the sake of finding a balance between the world of men and the world of women, creating harmony in relationships and mutual understanding.
