Abstract
This article is devoted to analyzing the role of digital competence in the professional training of coaches and instructors at youth sports schools (YSS). In today's world, where information technology is rapidly evolving and penetrating all aspects of our lives, knowledge and the ability to effectively use such technologies become crucial for professional success. Digital competence, previously considered a supplementary skill, is now a fundamental requirement in many professional fields, especially in sports training and education. It includes the ability to effectively use and evaluate technologies for information gathering, problem-solving, decision-making, and communication, which is especially important for coaches in sports schools. For a coach at a modern youth sports school, it is essential not only to possess basic digital skills but also to deeply understand the specifics of using specialized software used for analyzing athletes' performances. This includes the ability to work with data that records various performance parameters—from speed and endurance to technical skills and tactical decisions. Coaches must be able to analyze this data, identify trends and areas for improvement, and adapt training plans accordingly. Moreover, managing training data through digital tools allows coaches to preserve the entire history of training and competitions, which is important for planning long-term development strategies for athletes. This also includes data security and protection from unauthorized access. Organizing online training sessions is another critical competency for a modern coach. It requires the ability to use video conferencing platforms, manage online sessions, and maintain the motivation and engagement of athletes remotely. A critical component is ensuring high-quality video and audio communication, which allows coaches to effectively demonstrate techniques and conduct performance reviews. Effective communication with athletes and their parents through digital platforms is also important, namely using email, messengers, social networks, and other communication tools to inform about training schedules, changes in plans, organizational issues, and athletes' achievements. Coaches must possess the skills to develop clear and accessible messages that promote a high level of mutual understanding and cooperation among all participants in the educational and training process. The article explores the concept of "digital competence," defines its key components, and the role it plays in the training of coaches. In addition to the theoretical justification for the importance of digital competence, the work presents research findings that include an analysis of the current level of digital literacy among coaches at youth sports schools, as well as recommendations for improving their educational programs using modern technologies. The study underscores the need to integrate digital tools into the learning and training process and to develop specialized courses to enhance the digital competence of coaches, which will contribute to improving the effectiveness of their professional activities.
