Abstract

The article focuses attention on some existing psychological problems of socionomy specialists’ professional formation regarding the vector and meaning of certain properties and qualities determined by the specifics of their professional work and often having a negative impact on their professional self-development, causing difficulties in professional task fulfilment. The research theoretical basis is presented: professional self-development is considered as an important personal quantum that main idea is self-development determined by professional activities (when they are mastered or executed), therefore a person is studied from the position of his/her suitability for a profession and the success of his/ her activities. We note that an important condition for self-development is awareness of a current situation (regarding one’s capabilities) and an ideal result (that directs an individual's efforts, acting as a goal to achieve). The research methodological basis is explained from the subject approach position, which main idea is to study an individual as having a certain internal content and active-transformative subjectivity, so that he/ she is included into the world of work where his/ her independent initiation of professional activities determines the scope of these activities and life-professional tasks solved during self-realization as an essential form of self-development. The research algorithm is described and its main results are presented. We have proven that a specialist’s professional self-realization is an essential form of his/her professional self-development and, at the same time, an integral indicator of his/her development. The majority of specialists in the examined professions (scientists, teachers, doctors) achieved professional self-development (in the form of self-realization), but each of them had their own characteristics. Some of these properties are highlighted.
