Abstract

The increasing popularity of distance learning in today’s world presents new challenges for the educational process, with particular attention drawn to the psychological comfort of students. The relevance of this study lies in the need to explore and implement new approaches to assessing and supporting the psychological comfort of students in distance education, which becomes a key factor in ensuring their academic success and satisfaction with the learning process. The purpose of the study is to identify the main indicators of psychological comfort, their impact on the effectiveness of the educational process, and to develop recommendations for improving approaches to supporting psychological comfort in online education. The methodologyof the study includes the use of surveys among students of three Ukrainian universities: Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Interregional Academy of Personnel Management (Kharkiv Institute), and Kharkiv National Air Force University named afterIvan Kozhedub. A total of 450 students were surveyed, providing a substantial amount of data for further analysis. The study also includes an analysis of various approaches to supporting psychological comfort, particularly through social interaction, instructor support, adaptation of educational materials, and interactive teaching methods. The resultsof the study indicate that the psychological comfort of students largely depends on the level of support from instructors, opportunities for social interaction, and the adaptation of educational materials to the specifics of distance learning. High levels of stress and reduced social contacts were identified as major issues impacting the effectiveness of the learning process. The conclusionsemphasize the importance of a comprehensive approach to supporting students’psychological comfort. Recommendations include the development of individualized learning approaches, the implementation of interactive methods, and the improvement of social interaction between students and instructors. Future research prospects include a more detailed study of specific indicators of psychological comfort and their impact on various aspects of the learning process in the context of distance education.
