Abstract

How to successfully prepare for the PISA‑2025 science research? The answer to this question is substantiated by a teacher-methodologist and a scientist of the Institute of Pedagogy of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, whose scientific interests are focused on improving the quality of natural science education in Ukraine. In 2018, for the first time, Ukraine had the validity of a tool for measuring data on reading literacy; 2022 – mathematical literacy, and science literacy is planned to be investigated in 2025. Over the past six years, creative teachers and scientists have developed collections of tasks for the development of students’ natural and scientific competence in the PISA format. The collections of tasks for the development of natural and scientific competence of students in the PISA format in four parts compiled in the Institute of Pedagogy of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine can serve as important scientific and methodological assistants and/or advisors for science teachers. To solve the tasks, the following research methods were used: the method of comparative-historical analysis, the interpretive-analytical method, and empirical methods, which contributed to the justification of the need to develop and implement in the educational process tasks for the development of natural and scientific competence of students in the PISA format. PISA‑2025 will have a number of important features: the first is that the assessment tools are developed in accordance with the updated framework document (PISA 2025, 2023, 93 p.); the second – assessment of certain life goals of students and their ability to use scientific knowledge and information interactively, and the third – approbation of the test material of the additional option PISA‑2025 – foreign language assessment.
