Abstract
In the publication, the author raises the issue of the relevance of teaching writing to junior schoolchildren in the digital age, when with the development of the digital society, people's lives are accelerating, new ways of transmitting information are emerging, and the majority of the population is moving from writing with a pen/pencil to typing on the keyboard. Methodological science is adapting to the requirements of the present, taking into account the needs, capabilities and interests of students, and nowadays calligraphy is no longer considered an art of beautiful writing; the goal is to teach students clear, smooth, uninterrupted and accelerated writing, which has qualities that meet the requirements of easy reading. In addition, writing is seen as a powerful tool for the cognitive and linguistic development of younger students.
