Abstract

Globalization processes have led to positive changes in all spheres of life. However, the specificity of the Ukrainian situation is that the state has to overcome the consequences of linguicide, bilingualism and ineffective language policy at a very high cost. So, it is important to form school pupuls' understanding of the determining role of the state language in the self-identification of Ukrainians as a nation. The trends in the development of the linguistic foundations of the competence training of pupuls of grades 7-9 of the Ukrainian language can be seen in the growing attention to the evolutionary processes in the language, the study of aspects of the language related to the culture, traditions and customs of the Ukrainian people. At the same time, it is necessary to deepen the study of language creativity and language ethics, use language technologies for better learning of the material by pupils, increase attention to the development of language self-awareness, using cognitive methods of forming in school pupils of Ukrainian language competence, etc.
