Abstract

The problem of forming media literacy of students in the process of learning Ukrainian literature has been updated. The phenomena of manipulative influences in the process of students' perception of images of the classics are analyzed. revealing to teenage students the multifaceted image of the genius Taras Shevchenko will allow them to form in their imagination not a detached portrait of the national idol, but the concept of different facets of his personality, the always modern leader of the Ukrainian nation, a fighter, a brilliant poet and artist. He will appear before them as an ordinary person who survived the difficult trials of fate strove for family happiness, and dreamed of educating the younger generations, educating them in historical memory and national self-awareness. This will contribute to overcoming students' stereotypes about Kobzar as an artificial brand of Ukraine, and therefore to the development of media literacy - the skills of multifaceted analysis of information sources, media texts, and artistic works about Taras Shevchenko.
