Abstract

The problem of implementing the competence approach in school literary education is updated. The didactic-methodical potential of the content and structure of current textbooks of Ukrainian literature for 5-7 grades of the author's team of the Institute of Pedagogy of the NAPS of Ukraine regarding the formation of subject reading and key competences of students is revealed. The contents of the textbook headings for the organization of effective educational activities with the aim of forming a competent student-reader in the realities of the New Ukrainian School have been specified.
