Abstract
The article describes approaches to the implementation of the cross-cutting content line "Environmental Safety and Sustainable Development" during the laboratory research while the study of the topic "Plants" in the course of the discipline "Biology" in the 6th grade of general education institutions. This paper attempts to develop a list of questions and tasks that can be used by teachers during laboratory classes and research workshops. The purpose of this article is to study the possibilities of using the educational material of lessons with a practical component in the 6th grade in order to implement the cross-cutting content line "Environmental Safety and Sustainable Development". It is noted that the main goal of laboratory work is to develop students' ability to observe biological objects, describe them, identify the main features, and determine the importance of living organisms for the normal existence of natural ecosystems. The necessity of modelling practical life situations during the lesson, the solution of which requires students to formulate their value attitudes to various environmental problems, is substantiated. It has been defined that declaration of students' own judgements on such topics ensures the formation of their worldview orientation. A number of additional questions with a practical component are proposed for 6th grade biology lessons. The attempt to solve such questions also ensures that students are aware of the need to participate in solving environmental issues. Students assess the consequences of human activity in relation to the environment and participate in the search for more rational and balanced options for it. Thus, the implementation of the cross-cutting content line "Environmental Safety and Sustainable Development" in the course of laboratory research in biology lessons in the 6th grade of secondary schools does not involve a change in the educational content, but only a certain interpretation of it by the teacher.
