Abstract

The concept specifies the essence of the key concepts of linguistic didactics "method" and "method": the general didactic and linguistic methodological challenges that complicate the selection and application of methods in Ukrainian language lessons are characterized. The following functions of Ukrainian language teaching methods are substantiated and characterized as key: cognitive, developmental, educational, formative, motivational, and control. Correlation of methods and "new conditions", namely those that indicate a change in the trajectory of the movement of Ukrainian education, primarily a change in the goals of education in the Law of Ukraine "On Education", the State Standard of Basic Secondary Education, according to which we perceive education as development and self-development, was carried out. The principles and criteria for the selection of methods of competence-oriented teaching of the Ukrainian language in gymnasiums and lyceums have been determined. For linguists, students of higher education, lexicographers.
