Abstract
The education system in Ukraine is designed to prepare highly educated, qualified professionals capable of professional growth and mobility in the context of society informatization and the development of new science-intensive technologies. There are significant substantive and technological changes in key areas of societal life, necessitating continuous self-improvement, knowledge expansion, and practical capabilities of the modern individual. This article reveals the potential of the STEM approach within the context of contemporary educational objectives and the preparation tasks for future electrician technicians in specialized colleges for the country's power engineering sector. The STEM approach is identified as a methodological guide and a relevant tool that allows for the development of professional competence of future electrician technicians through laboratory and practical work. The range of strategic orientations and tasks of vocational education is proposed to be supplemented by mastering technological tools necessary for managing productive practical activities of students within an interdisciplinary context. Such technological tools are based on the STEM approach methodology. The STEM approach is defined as a strategic link that enables the integration of the classical methodological line of vocational education, focused on student competencies formation, with an innovative component that ensures the technological and practical orientation of training for the modern market economy. The article was aimed at highlighting the essence of providing a STEM approach to the training of future electrical technicians in vocational colleges. It has been proven that the STEM approach modernizes traditional education, ensuring the real implementation of activity and competence approaches and strengthening the applied and practical orientation of the training of electrical technicians at vocational colleges. The STEM approach forms a stable motive for students to study the disciplines of a professional direction. Future specialists need comprehensive training and knowledge in various educational fields of natural sciences, engineering, electrical engineering, electromechanics, etc. Further research should be devoted to the application of the STEM approach to the organization of the educational process at vocational colleges.
