Abstract

The paper analyzes the use of scientometric methods for evaluating the effectiveness of scientific and pedagogical research. The main scientometric indicators and criteria of the effectiveness of scientific activity, the advantages and disadvantages of their use to determine the impact of certain work on the development of the scientific community are considered. It is noted that the system of expertise and review is an alternative to formalized scientometric methods that can be used as an auxiliary (reference) tool.
