Abstract
The generalization of knowledge is an important component of the development of students, the formation of their ability to think critically. We are talking about school biology, during the study of which, the teacher should prepare students for a holistic perception of knowledge about living organisms at different levels of organization. The teacher must be ready to use various means and methods of summarizing and systematizing knowledge in the learning process. The research conducted by us provides grounds for concluding that biology teachers (who participated in the survey) are aware of the importance of teaching students the ability to generalize knowledge as an important component of student development. The vast majority of teachers believe that generalization makes it possible to better understand information about living objects, phenomena, processes, and their interaction, makes it possible to better analyze the studied biological material, compare and contrast the characteristics of living objects. 75% of biology teachers believe that they do not have difficulties in teaching students to generalize biological knowledge. However, 21% - experience difficulties in understanding the general methodology of teaching students analysis, synthesis, and generalization, which should be paid attention to during the training of biology teachers.
