Abstract

The article characterizes the methodology of teaching biology, analyzes the problems and ways to solve them. The essence of the teaching methodology of biology as a field of pedagogical science, which was formed on the basis of pedagogy and biology and separated into a separate science, which includes rational methods of managing the educational process as a result of which students acquire conscious and strong competencies necessary for any educated person, is revealed. It was determined that the methodology of teaching biology is based on general didactic principles, which are characteristic of all school subjects, taking into account the uniqueness of the study of biological material. It was established that the methodology of teaching biology solves the task of laying the foundations of scientific and practical knowledge of the discipline; promoting the formation of methodological competence of biology students; formation and development of methodological skills, deepening, consolidation and improvement of theoretical knowledge; formation of pedagogical consciousness, professionally significant personality qualities; development of professional culture; formation of creative thinking, development of the need for pedagogical self-education, constant self-improvement and methodical reflection. A number of problems were singled out, the solution of which depends on the quality of the professional training of the biology teacher, where methodical training is of leading importance. Such methodical training will contribute to the formation of professional skills regarding the analysis of the content and structure of current educational programs, school textbooks, educational and methodological aids in biology, the ability to model different types of lessons, other forms of educational activities, the rational application of a complex of methods, methodological techniques, means and methods of organization cognitive activity of schoolchildren, abilities and skills; organize and conduct individual, group, frontal work of students in lessons, extracurricular and extracurricular activities; produce visual and didactic materials; study and use advanced pedagogical experience.
