Abstract
Relevance the development of web design competence of vocational educational institutions teaching staff is an urgent need given the rapid pace of digitalisation of the educational process; teaching staff are actively involved in the creation of electronic textbooks, interactive notebooks, various forms and tests, etc., which involves the development and design of objects of the Internet information environment from the standpoint of user comprehensibility, meeting their educational and aesthetic needs. Aim: to determine the content, structure, criteria, indicators and levels of web design competence development of vocational educational institutions teaching staff. Methods: analysis and synthesis – to determine the development state of the problem under study, substantiation of the competence structure in web design of teaching staff, criteria, indicators and levels of its development; generalisation – to formulate conclusions and recommendations for the development of the studied competence; diagnostic (testing, conversation) – to determine the competence level in web design of teaching staff. Results: a theoretical analysis of domestic and foreign publications on design education was carried out; a survey of 372 teachers of vocational institutions on the creation and use of electronic learning tools (textbooks; interactive forms, tests, worksheets; infographics) was conducted; the answers received were summarised (more than 17% of teachers develop design, create websites and web pages that combine text with sounds, pictures, graphics and video; approximately 80 % – perform independent design development of electronic publications; 5 to 7 % – use various graphic editors and image processing services; less than 6 % – confirmed the use of one approach to the design of educational products on paper and for placement on the Internet); the necessity of developing competence in web design of vocational educational institutions teaching staff is proved, its structure, criteria, indicators and levels of development are substantiated. Conclusions: it is proved that teaching staff of vocational education institutions are involved in the development of electronic educational content, but have a low level of competence in web design; web design competence of a teaching staff of a vocational education institution is defined as a combination of knowledge, skills and attitudes to web design technologies to create educational content to perform tasks, problem-solving, communication, information management, collaboration in the information and educational environment of a vocational education institution, doing it effectively, appropriately, safely, critically, creatively, independently and ethically; the web design competence structure for vocational teachers consists of technical skills (basics of composition, typography, colour science, graphic design, design software, user interface (UI), user experience (UX), responsive design) and soft skills (project management, time management, copywriting, web design awareness, creative thinking, critical thinking, attention to detail, communication, self-reflection); four assessment levels of this competence formation (initial, low, medium, high) are defined, taking into account the indicators of motivational, cognitive, activity and reflective criteria; recommendations for improving the design education content of vocational education institutions teaching staff and developing their competence in web design are formulated.
