Abstract
In the article, the authors analyze the essence of the concept of "academic integrity and dishonesty" and characterize the debatable issues surrounding the researched problem. Recently, there has been a growing research interest in issues related to academic integrity in Ukraine, partly due to the development and adoption of a new legislative framework on education, and partly due to an increase in the number of reports of academic misconduct at the national level. Developments in the field of information and communication technologies (ICT) have led to drastic changes in everyone's lifestyle. ICT has become an integral part of higher education institutions in the form of distance and blended learning both by desire, conditions and due to the growth of demand in the environment. Even though educational institutions have realized the numerous benefits and advantages of distance and blended learning, they cannot ignore the ethical and moral challenges regarding violations of academic integrity that exist. Unfortunately, today's environment has exacerbated the problems of fraud, plagiarism, procrastination, and privacy violations. Unfortunately, today's environment has exacerbated the problems of fraud, plagiarism, procrastination, and privacy violations. Recently, there has been a growing research interest in issues related to academic integrity in Ukraine, partly due to the development and adoption of a new legislative framework on education, and partly due to an increase in the number of reports of academic misconduct at the national level. The development of approaches to teaching and learning has implications for institutional initiatives that involve promoting and supporting the academic integrity of learners and the use of assessment practices that are an integral part of learning. The authors conducted a survey among 130 respondents, of whom 32 were teachers, scientific and pedagogical workers and pedagogues, and 98 were students of education. The first block of questions was aimed at applicants, where they had to determine what reasons lead them to plagiarism and academic dishonesty. In the second block of questions, teachers were asked to identify the most effective initiatives that could be implemented by their educational institutions to implement and promote academic integrity and reduce academic dishonesty among students. The results of the study indicate that there is a need for an appropriate targeted and controlled educational environment. In this regard, teachers with the help of academic institutions can play a key role.
