Abstract
The article analyzes foreign and domestic professional development models for teachers and the experience of their practical application. It was concluded that the priority in teachers’ training is not only the connection between theory and practice but most of all - the connection with the teacher’s personality. This finding became the impetus for developing and distributing new models of professional development for teachers, which replaced the traditional professional development – in-service training. At the same time, it was found that the andragogic model of professional development for teachers remains fundamental in Ukraine, and professional development takes the central place. The implementation of open education strategies stimulates the creation of new models of professional development for teachers.
