Abstract

The article, based on a theoretical analysis of research results over the past four decades, shows the exceptional and multifaceted importance of hardiness for the development and full functioning of the personality in the modern world. The ability of hardiness to determine educational and professional efficiency, stress resistance, motivation, adaptability, creativity, physical and mental endurance, psychological well-being, job satisfaction, professional orientation, manifestation of leadership qualities, emotional stability, etc. has been proved. The exceptional importance of hardiness in preventing the manifestation of such adverse personal qualities and phenomena as burnout, post-traumatic and other mental health disorders, somatic complaints, alcohol abuse, negative personality, avoidance, neuroticism, depression, anxiety, obsession, etc., has been shown.
