Abstract
On the basis of empirical research, a number of problems have been identified regarding the use of coping strategies by educational and scientific personnel in war conditions, in particular, insufficient use of «active» and «productive» coping strategies. At the same time, certain changes in the use of coping strategies by the personnel of educational and scientific organizations during the war, compared to the pre-war period, were revealed: an increase in the use of such active and productive/semi-productive coping strategies as «problem-solving orientation» and «social distraction», which indicates a fairly active position of employees of educational and scientific organizations who perform significant social and professional roles. At the same time, it was established that in the conditions of war, the use of passive and unproductive coping strategies («avoidance», «distraction») by the personnel of these organizations increases somewhat, which is due, in particular, to the need to stabilize the mental state of the personnel of the organizations and the need for the personnel to restore personal resources, which is significant for maintaining mental health. It has been proven that the coping strategies of educational and scientific personnel in the conditions of war have a statistically significant relationship with mental health: the coping strategy «orientation on emotions» has a pronounced negative relationship with all components of mental health, which indicates about its «negative» status, while other coping strategies («task orientation», «social distraction», «avoidance» and «distraction») have a positive relationship with all or most components of mental health, which speaks of their «positive status». It is substantiated that in order to maintain and preserve the mental health of educational and scientific personnel, it is expedient to use coping strategies with a «positive» status, taking into account the indicators of a specific stressful situation that must be «overcome» (the need to solve the problem, stabilize the emotional state, the need pauses to «accumulate» forces, resources, etc.) and decrease the use of coping strategies with a «negative» status.
