Abstract

The concepts of stress resistance, self-trust, and internality as important personality characteristics in the contemporary conditions are considered in the article. Resistance to stress acquires special significance in the life of the Ukrainians due to the war, complex social, political and economic circumstances, negative impact of destructive information, the scale of which has significantly spread in the conditions of the protracted military aggression in Ukraine. Attention is paid to self-trust as one of the significant features of a person's resistance to stress; the relationship between the concepts of stress resistance and self-trust is considered in the prospect of developing an individual's resistance to the manipulative influences of modern mass media. It is emphasized that in the conditions of the large-scale war in Ukraine, the destructive impact of often unverified, devastating flows of information on the psycho-emotional state of an individual, which can cause an internal imbalance of a person, limit his opportunities for self-regulation, complicate adaptation to the requirements of wartime, be the cause of formation and development of negative psycho-emotional states, manifestations of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Such personality traits of the modern Ukrainians as stress resistance, internality, trust in yourself as an individual and in yourself as a reader of media texts, criticality to manipulative texts were experimentally investigated using a number of psychological methods. The relationships between the specified manifestations of a personality who faced the traumatic events of the war are experimentally revealed and theoretically reviewed herein. It outlines the directions of psychological assistance of an individual, which are aimed at the development of self-trust, reliance on yourself and own resources, resistance to stress in order to be able to adequately respond to today's extremely complex challenges.
