Abstract

In the article, the author substantiates the relevance of the problem of modern interpretation of methods of teaching the Ukrainian language. The theory of the optimal choice of methods of teaching the Ukrainian language and their appropriate application is presented. The article contains a definition of the concept’s «method», the essence and nature of these concepts are revealed. The author traced the interrelationships and transitions between them using methods and techniques. The main functions of language teaching methods are highlighted. It was found that these functions depend on the goals and content of education, on the level of educational opportunities of students and other educational factors. The article reveals the specifics of the functions of language teaching methods. The factors that affect the expediency of choosing methods and techniques are determined, the conditions for their effective application, in particular during distance learning, are named.
