Abstract
Our days are often being referred to as the age of information. The development of information technologies, proliferation of computer devices and spreading of the Internet has led to ratherradical transformation of lifestyle and ways of doing the jobs in many areas of human activity, and especially in scientific investigations and higher education. In order to achieve the due andadequate understanding of the processes in question, it is not enough just to follow the generaltrends of digitalization and computerization, but it is necessary to conduct the philosophical reflection of those issues, in order to review their meanings and senses. This paper is intended to review the phenomenon of information in its relation to human persons and their knowledge, aswell as try to provide philosophical consideration of the impact of the common trends of thedevelopment of the ICT technologies on science, education and society in general while referring to the ideas expressed by prominent philosophers.
