Abstract
The article analyzes the practices of science and research development, in particular at the national and institutional levels in the context of European integration. Emphasis is placed on the systematization and support of the state of science in universities, strengthening the role and prestige of the profession of researcher (scientist, researcher), as well as creating favorable conditions for attracting young people to science. It was found that in the institutional policies of British universities the tendency is on the development of human resources as a valuable component that affects the authority and status of the institution. This process is open, transparent and accessible to those who want to lifelong learning. Resources and courses for professional, personal and career development are presented on the sites in the relevant sections. These sections are usually called “Researcher’s Career” or “Center for Professional Development”. It is worth noting that the policy of the UK’s leading universities is aimed at attracting and retaining talented researchers by creating the most favorable employment conditions. First of all, it is a decent salary and modern material and technical base, for young people and families with children there are various programs to provide housing and benefits. It is noted that in Ukraine there is a positive trend at the national level to strengthen the scientific component of universities. An important initiative of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine is the development of the Roadmap for the integration of Ukraine’s research and innovation system into the European Research Area. The main priorities of the Roadmap are to increase the efficiency of the national research system, attract investment in research infrastructures, a free labor market for researchers, knowledge transfer and Open Science, and international mobility and cooperation. There is an opportunity for universities of Ukraine to participate in competitions of the National Research Foundation of Ukraine, various international Erasmus+ projects, Horizon Europe 2021–2027, etc.
