Abstract

The paper presents the activities carried out by the Institute of Higher Education of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine in wartime. According to the Decree No. 64/2022 of the President of Ukraine “On the Imposition of Martial Law in Ukraine” dated February 24, 2022, and the Decree No. 19-R of NAES of Ukraine dated February 24, 2022, the researchers of the Institute of Higher Education of NAES of Ukraine are transferred on remote mode (Order of the Institute dated February 24, 2022). The activities of the Institute’s staff were carried out in the following areas: organisational, research, educational, expert and volunteer activities. The issues on the organisation of the Institute’s activities in wartime, in particular: preservation of the institution’s infrastructure, work of accounting, monitoring staff location, the need to update the editorial board of the journal “Philosophy of Education”, preparation of appeals and letters to international organisations, the academic community of European countries to counter the war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, were discussed at the meetings of the Directorate and Academic Council of the Institute of Higher Education of NAES of Ukraine. The departments’ meetings were held for the researchers to report on implementing the individual research plans for the first quarter of 2022 to monitor the implementation of research activities. Expert activities were carried out by preparing a number of proposals for regulations of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and reviewing articles for periodicals of domestic and international scientific journals. To perform educational activities, research supervisors and the management of the Institute contacted PhD students and monitored PhD students’ research plans. The Institute worked on career guidance to admit applicants for PhD and DSc studies on the speciality 011 — Educational, Pedagogical Sciences. The researchers of the Institute carried out active volunteer activities: they provided financial and logistical assistance to the Armed Forces of Ukraine; they launched the initiative “The Academics to Academics” (A2A) in cooperation with the NGO “Institute for Leadership, Innovation and Development”, aimed at supporting the academic staff of the Ukrainian universities relocated from the regions that are in the area of active hostilities.
