Abstract
The paper highlights the new realities of the functioning of a modern electronic scientific library on the example of the Electronic Library of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine. The digital economy, evolving and meeting the goals and objectives of the information society that is being built today, leads us to a society that is built on knowledge of information and digital technologies that are constantly updated and improved. It is about changing the social paradigm from solving the problem of ensuring equal free access to information to the use of information to obtain new knowledge, which affects the stimulation of innovation potential in all spheres of activity. The information environment of communications, including libraries where knowledge is created and disseminated, is undergoing rapid and profound changes. One of the essential features of the modern information environment, which includes scientific libraries, is the formation of virtual space (virtual cooperation, virtual teams and communities, etc.), creation and development of digital infrastructure (electronic libraries, publishers, magazines, archives, institutional repositories), cloud development technologies, widespread use of mobile devices and applications, etc.
