Abstract

The article characterizes the cultural and ideological preconditions for the emergence, essence, and main features of the dominant trend in modern literature, culture in general - metamodernism. The author argues that metamodernism is a global cultural process of today, characterized by fluctuations between two opposites and their simultaneous use. This oscillation occurs primarily between modernism and postmodernism. Metamodernism treats opposites as components of the general truth, does not impose any "single-correct" position, but offers to choose it for everyone personally and to remain in a state of continuous search between opposites.
