Abstract

The scientific and analytical materials provide an analysis of the state of education for democratic citizenship in Ukraine and European countries. The current strategies of the Council of Europe and the European Union in the implementation of education for democratic citizenship are outlined. The role of civic education as the main direction of the content of educational courses for democratic citizenship is highlighted. Trends in the development of education for democratic citizenship and digital citizenship are highlighted. Proposals are presented and prospects for the development of school education for democratic citizenship in Ukraine are outlined, taking into account the experience of Council of Europe member states.
