Abstract
The theses reveal the features of a competency-oriented approach to assessing students' academic achievements in history. In particular, the author defines the methodological principles for the organization of control activities in the context of competency-based history teaching. It is noted that the main functions of monitoring and evaluation of students' academic achievements in history are: motivational, diagnostic, educational, informational and indicative.
