Abstract

The article deals with certain problems of negative impact of informational technologies on person’s mental state. The author points out the problem of the formation and enhancement of irrational cognitive attitudes by mass media’s various manipulations, which may be the cause of emotional problems and deterioration of citizens’ feeling of well-being. Unfortunately, it must be admitted that there is only an insignificant number of investigations concerning such issues as the formation of antiscientific and mystical ideas by means of mass media and the connection of these ideas with the emergence of other irrational beliefs and attitudes, with negative emotional states, with the inclination of people to be easily influenced by various manipulative techniques. Therefore, the study of the problem of deviant behaviour formation under mass media influence is of high importance. It should be noted that the consideration of this problem is often one-sided due to the use of simplified scheme of informational environment influence on human behaviour, according to which the person just passively reacts to manipulative information, blindly copying the presupposed behaviour. In reality any informational influence is mediated by the factor of personality, and it is the personality who finally determines the ultimate result of such influence. So, only personality-orientated work can ensure the prevention of various types of deviant behaviour. We need empirical studies aimed at the determination of specific personal factors which make people susceptible to the negative influence of informational environment, and the methods of therapeutic treatment of these personality’s peculiarities should be elaborated. Besides, everyone should have an access to psychological care institutions, which can conduct the correspondent psychodiagnostics and psychotherapeutic treatment.
