Abstract
The educational reform which take place in Ukraine refer to renewal of education, along with textbooks' modernisation as they play important role in the teaching process and are one of the main way of transmission of knowledge. In scientists' publication who often are the authors of the textbooks we can find the statements that the textbook is the way of both key and substantive competences of learners. The author of the article studies the problem of reading literacy formation for the schoolchildren as the universal one with the help of analysis of Ukrainian Literature textbook materials. In the article it is examined the problem of competence oriented tasks application in Ukrainian Literature textbooks for schools. It is outlined the role of those tasks in the process of developing key and substantive competences for schoolchildren. It is analysed the structure and the principles of competence oriented tasks construction. Some tasks samples are recommended which are directed to develop the reading competence for using in Ukrainian Literature textbooks and at the lessons in particular. It is proved that the content of Ukrainian Literature textbook gives the possibility to develop key and substantive competences of learners. It is confirmed by the quality of informative texts in the textbooks and the availability of competence oriented tasks in them. However, not all Ukrainian Literature textbooks have got correctly formulated competence oriented tasks which often have only reproduction and not always well-conceived keys and distraction in the tasks with closed answers. So, the ways of solution of certain problem are brought up in the article, especially it is emphasized on the accent of transmission from informational-accumulative orientation in Ukrainian Literature textbook content to the compilation of competence oriented tasks, solution of which will shape out the personality and develop the ability to get the knowledge on her own in the process of researching practical activity, using it both in teaching and unconventional creative life situations which will help to form key and substantive competences successfully.
