Abstract

The article actualizes the issue of reducing reader activity and indicates the factors that determine it. Emphasis is placed on the interpretation of reading as a specific form of communicative and cognitive activity of the individual, and the understanding of reader literacy as an important component of general education of students. Indicators of the formation of reading literacy of Ukrainian schoolchildren in accordance with the norms of the international study of the quality of education PISA-2018 are presented. Foreign and domestic publications devoted to the problem of formation of reading literacy of modern students are considered. The interpretation of reader literacy as a category is revealed. The structure of reader literacy and essential characteristics of subject meta-subject and personal results as its components are presented. The priority types of reading activity of the individual in correlation with the concept of PISA research are considered. The types of interconnected skills of a qualified reader are presented, on the formation of which the PISA test focuses. Emphasis is placed on the objective need to update research in age and educational psychology for the productive development of theoretical and practical aspects of the problem of forming a literate, qualified student-reader, including in the lessons of school literature courses. Scientific research on the personal characteristics of adolescent students is analyzed. The types of students' perception of textual information (synthetic, analytical, analytical-synthetic and emotional) are characterized. Attention is focused on the position of scientific research of O. Nikiforova on the types of analytical-synthetic processes of perception of a literary work; stages of artistic perception; conditions for full understanding of the work of art. The urgency of the problem of formation of reading literacy of modern students by the motivated growth of requirements to the quality of school education, including literary, is confirmed.
