Abstract
Socio-economic conditions, educational practice determines the need for young people to develop creative thinking that meets the needs of the present. A prerequisite for stimulating creative thought processes is a detailed study of its features and development prospects. Theoretical rethinking and integration of previously developed approaches to the study of creative thinking allowed us to solve the problem of a qualitative improvement in the tools for studying creative thinking of the individual. We found that the creative thinking of the subject is best manifested in the creative activity of solving the posed creative problem, a personally significant creative problem and ends with the creation of a subjectively and objectively new, meaningful creative product. We have identified priority criteria for the development of creative thinking of students, which combine process and productive components (productivity, originality and variability), and built an approximate hierarchical sequence of the formation of their creative thinking: from simple – reproductive, productive to a creative level. In the course of empirical research, the prevalence of strategic thinking trends of analogization, the reproductive, productive level of creative thinking among students, as well as its practical orientation, was established. The prospects and the vector of development of creative thinking of students are determined.
