Abstract

PISA 2018 materials in Ukraine on student literacy were analyzed. The categorical spectrum of reader literacy is described; a list of skills that determine its formation is provided; the reasons of its stated condition are revealed. In view of the PISA conclusions and suggestions provided recommendations to teachers on the formation of reading literacy in Ukrainian students on the basis of text-centric and competence approaches.
