Abstract
The author’s integrative personally-oriented developmental (IPOD) model of addiction therapy is described in the article. The model of personality as an integration centre of mental processes and a three-level model of the psyche were used as its methodological basis. The levels of personality development corresponding to the levels of personality organization were determined basing on the psychodynamic theory. Addiction development is seen as personality regression to lower functional levels. The stages of addiction therapy in the IPOD model correspond to the reverse movement up by functional levels. The IPOD model was used in the practice of “Sense” rehabilitation centre for alcohol-addicted people and the obtained statistical data are presented in the article. The data analyses showed that the duration of rehabilitation was crucial for the formation of a long-term continuous remission.
