Abstract
The article presents the results of empirical study of modern high school students (9th and 11th grades) motivation features. The theoretical review provides important exploratory research by other psychologists on the correlation between motivation and predictive function of the individual. The results of the survey among high school students created with T. Ehlers’s methods of diagnostics of motivations for success and avoidance of failures are analysed. In particular, the results of measuring the level of motivation development and the revealed correlation of motivation to success and avoidance of failures in the specified sample of high school students are represented. Following the example of M. Convington's quadripolar model, a similar model for the experiment participants was constructed. Types of behaviour of young people regarding prevailing motivation are described. Theoretical studies can be applied to develop the concept of exploring expectations from the future in contemporary youth. The results of our study can be used by scholars who study the problems of motivation of adolescents. Also, the materials presented will be useful for the work of school psychologists and class tutors who are engaged in the formation of motivation for success, the desire to feel confident in their abilities, self-realization and the ability to adapt to life in society in high school students.
