Abstract
The Council of Europe's approaches to supporting education for digital citizenship are described. The concept of digital citizenship is defined as the ability to participate positively, critically and competently in the digital environment, based on skills of effective communication and creation, use of technology. The material outlines the need to create conditions in the educational and information space that would allow not only to learn the basics of democracy, but also to apply them in practice and in life, as for educators, students and parents.
