Abstract

An important advantage of the Google Scholar (GS) service is its availability to work with the database in a simplified version as a search engine. A convenient addition to the functionality of the system is the ability to upload the original data of bibliographic sources in the program of automatic generation of bibliographic lists - RefWorks, RefMMan, EndNote, BibTex. The undoubted advantage is the large amount of information contained in publications from all over the world. GS indexes articles and other materials that are non-periodical publications: textbooks, collections of articles, etc., which are available to web users of the world scientific community. The large coverage of the platform allows to obtain more accurate scientometric indicators, which in their accuracy are not inferior to the results of similar bases. The main advantage of the GS service is the ability to create a personal profile that contains information about your own publications, which allows you to take into account their citations and view the dynamics. The GS citation index is a statistical tool for ranking scientists.
