Abstract
Introduction. Improvement of behavior of heads of general secondary education institutions in complex and stressful situations involves, in particular, the study of organizational and psychological factors that influence the heads' choice of coping strategies. Aim of the study: to investigate the relationship between coping strategies used by heads of general secondary education institutions and their satisfaction with work and organization. Methods: My Attitude to Work questionnaire (K. Maslach, M. Leiter) and Coping Behavior in Stressful Situations (S. Norman, D. Endler, D. James, M Parker; adapted by T. Krukova). Results. It was found that secondary education institution heads' job and organization satisfaction had statistically significant relationship with the coping strategies used by the heads (high heads' satisfaction with the organizational values, workload, staff, organizational fairness and rewards positively correlated with such active and constructive stress-coping strategies as problem-oriented strategy and social support search strategy, and negatively correlated with such non-constructive coping strategies as emotion-focused strategy. There was no statistically significant relationship between heads' job and organization satisfaction and the distraction coping strategy, which was probably due to the fact that this coping strategy was used outside the work environment.
