Abstract
One of the open electronic information systems designed to manage the editorial workflow is the Open Monograph Press software system created within the Public Knowledge Project. PKP (https://pkp.sfu.ca) is a multi-university initiative that develops free open source software and conducts research to improve the quality and reach of scientific publications. The PKP project was founded in 1998 by Canadian scientist John Willinsky at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, based on his own research and publication research. J. Willinski is one of the main promoters of open access publications, highlighting the importance of academic research and their publication in his scholarly work. PKP's main software products are Open Journal Systems, Open Conference Systems, Open Archives Harvester and Open Monograph Press. OJS is used for publishing research results, OCS for organizing conferences and publishing their results, Open Archives Harvester (Harvester) for organizing and indexing metadata for publications, Open Monograph Press for managing monographs. There is open source for each product.
