Abstract
The article presents the selection, design and placement of competency-oriented tasks in school textbooks in biology. Their main function is to provide the student with self-control at different stages of educational and cognitive activity. It is suggested to consider placement in the textbook of tasks according to the types of control: current (after paragraph), thematic (after topic), semester (1 and P semesters) and annual (at the end of the course), State Final Attestation (STA) and External Independent Assessment (EQA) for the final stage of study.
