Abstract
The article highlights the ideas of outstanding scientist S.L. Rubinstein on the upbringing of man. The e mphasis is on the attitude towards the other as to the subject, on the understanding of it as an equal to itself, one that one can love and respect. It is this attitude towards the child, in particular, determines the humanity and professionalism of the ed ucator himself. The idea of "educational action" is stated, which is an indispensable condition for real life for people, when "I for another person and the other for me - is a condition of our human existence". The importance of Rubinstein's theory of edu cation in the modern Ukrainian school is emphasized.
