Abstract
The article, based on the scientific works of academician Nelya Nychkalo and other scientific resources, finds out that the personality and the specialist are in unity, have direct influence on each other and are closely mutually conditioned. It analyzes specialist’s professional development, characterizes basic factors (biological, social, that of upbringing and activity) of professional development. It focuses on the leading qualities, features and displays of the specialist’s personality. It also characterizes main methodological approaches to the substantiation of the specialist’s professional development. The priority is given to the person oriented approach, which at the same time includes demands of many other approaches (personality, activity, system and subject) and methodological principles (unity of consciousness and behavior, personality and activity etc.). It presents basic stages of the specialist’s personality professional development and briefly characterizes its content. It defines that such development is personality-professionally oriented that represents personality development process in the professional environment that is aimed at full updating of its spiritual, cognitive, professional and specialist’s strength as a definite specialist in the professional activity and at achieving substantial results in it. It also substantiates the notion “professional development” as to the specialist’s personality.
