Abstract
The up-to-date process of learning Ukrainian literature at school requires updating methods of assessing of students’ educational achievements, paying attention to schoolchildren’s motivation for self-education, personal growth and self-realization. Purpose of the article consists in analysis of existing methods of assessing students’ educational achievements in Ukrainian literature as well as in detection of contradictions and interpretation of some effective types and techniques corresponding to emotional and axiological criterion of literary text perception. Conclusions: Qualitatively organized evaluation of students’ educational achievements significantly increases the level of personality’s motivation for self-realization through action. Evaluation performs educational, developmental and prognostic functions and so it helps to consolidate efforts of all subjects of the educational process for interpretation and discussion of all aspects of readers’ reception typical for students. Techniques of current evaluation requiring further investigation include such techniques as self-evaluation and mutual evaluation which correspond to the concept of educational process democratization and increasing the self-organization level of each student. When choosing kinds of thematic evaluation, it should be taken into account that the greatest effectiveness belongs to visual and semantic presentation (primary school) and essay (mainly senior school).
