Abstract
The article substantiates the methodological approaches to the pedagogical diagnostics of the propensity to researching activity in intellectually gifted high school students on the basis of the concept of “propensity to research”. Propensity to research activity is a psychological property. It defines the focus of the individual and manifests itself in the drive for scientific research, emotional readiness to engage in research and development. Diagnostics of propensity to research is associated with the development and use of various methods for recognizing the child’s individual psychological characteristics in the most common forms (tests, projective techniques, psychophysiological techniques, questionnaires, and etc.). The diagnostics aims at forecasting the development of scientific creativity. Pedagogical diagnostics is a prerequisite for competent and successful development and determination of pedagogical tasks, and elaboration of effective educational activities. Examples of appropriate diagnostic tools developed for the determination of the propensity have been presented in the article. The proposed diagnostic complex makes it possible to identify the most promising groups of young people who have scientific creativity and are involved in educational programs and projects of the Junior Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. This research contributes to the further development of methods and materials for the selection of students to study in special educational institutions with the focus on science.
