Abstract
Introduction. In the context of the tasks of the new paradigm of school education, its modern development strategy is determined by updating the content, adopting a personally and competently oriented model of learning, implementing an activity approach in the process of its organization. Accordingly, the problem of the formation of the key competence and the reader one as the subject competence of students in the process of teaching Ukrainian literature in school becomes relevant. Purpose. To uncover theoretical and methodical aspects of the implementation of the competency principles of school literary studies in the context of modern educational tasks. Methods. Analysis and synthesis of normative documents in the field of school education, psychological and pedagogical and methodological sources in the context of the identified problem. Results. The problem of application of competence approach in school education, considered as one of the priority vectors of its modern development, has been updated. The essence of "competence" as a pedagogical category is found out, the history of introduction of competence education is briefly described, the definition of the concepts "key competence", "subject competence" is presented, the interpretation of the subject literacy competence as an integrated result of student achievements related to reader activity is substantiated, the Differentiation of the subject competence into "artistic readership competence" and "informational readership" one is presented. The theoretical and methodical aspects of the implementation of the competence of school literary education in the context of the provisions of the Concept of the New Ukrainian School (2016) and the Law of Ukraine "On Education" (2017) are revealed. The readership competence as a subject one is differentiated into artistic readership competence and informational readership competence. Artistic readership competence is defined as an integrated result of students’ achievements in the field of reading activity, such as the ability to comprehend the acquisition of knowledge and skills provided by a specific program theme and the school course of literature in general, as a system of values-ideological and aesthetic orientations formed on the material of highly artistic works, as the ability to target the application of a set of subject knowledge, formed skills and methods of activity in new educational and life situations. Information readership competence is characterized as the ability of the individual to analyze, interpret, critically evaluate information in texts of different types, styles and genres (including media texts), as well as the ability to use it for personal development. Conclusion. Active searches for effective factors of the implementation of the competence approach necessitate the creation and implementation of a methodology for the effective organization of competently oriented teaching of Ukrainian literature that will contribute to the improvement of the quality of contemporary school literary education in the school practice of literary teaching.
