Abstract
The article deals with the role of the editor of a column (section) who prepares materials on psychological subjects for publication. The paper is not limited to highlighting the significance of providing timely, credible and sufficient psychological information and support via the printed media. It also stresses the importance of encouraging a reader to be critical and develop their ability to analyse data and recommendations while actively evolving and asserting their personalities. The meaning of such a personal quality of an editor as autonomy has been studied, as well as its impact on the formulation of requirements to psychological materials on establishing dialogue between the author of an article and a reader (the receiver of psychological help). The article presents research data of an experimental study on autonomy as a personal quality of editors of domestic scientific editions, science-medical editions, popular science and popular editions or separate columns. The prospects for constructive relationship between authors and citizens in modern traumatic conditions have been outlined.
