Abstract
The mediators of the interaction of natural science and humanitarian paradigms in human recognition can be system representations. In the philosophical justification of their use is appropriate to proceed from the fact that the scientific study of available in the world (ontological) objects is carried out on the basis of their representation in the form of epistemological objects, which within the framework of science can be identified with the subjects of study. In modern science confirmed the fruitfulness of the latter as a system treated as a set of components that are in a certain relationship with each other. We apply the outlined guidelines to the development of the category "culture", in its broad interpretation as a set of components of human existence, which provide two of its functions: the function of social memory and the function of socially significant creativity.
