Abstract
The theses describes the status of informatization of domestic and Polish education and European laws that regulates the informatization of education and the promotion of the development of ICT and digital competencies for students and teachers. In addition, the importance of using distance learning during the educational process as an integral part of the basis of informatization of education, in particular, in higher education of the Republic of Poland, is indicated. In particular, describes the activities of distance learning centers which operate at Polish universities.
