Abstract
Modern telecommunication technologies for distance learning support are based, as a rule, on Internet protocols, but its commercialization and the high cost of access to it require the search for alternative software and hardware solutions for the implementation of the distance learning system. Yes, there are e-mail systems based on the non-profit network FidoNet, founded 20 years ago by Tom Jennings. Fidonet's postal procedures are standardized in the form of an FTN protocol, which can be used to build any number of FTN networks. The ease of organization, the minimum of technical and software tools needed to create and operate such networks, the low cost have made them very popular all over the world. Taking into account the nonprofitty of FTN-based systems, the structure's flexibility and the presence of many technologies available on the network of Internet-based networks, a group of Kryvy Rih universities was created by the EduNet education network, bringing together teachers, students and students . The positive quality of this network is the ability to simultaneously combine workstations operating under UNIX and Windows with outdated techniques under DOS management.
